Trip 1, June 2004
This is my first trip to Ecuador to work with Dr. Jane Weaver. I am traveling alone and am looking forward to seeing a new country and especially seeing my friend, Jane, whom I respect highly. She is an excellent surgeon and displays compassion and empathy for the people she serves. She has moved to Ecuador to serve the underserved here instead of pursuing a very successful career in surgery in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to utilize my talents and skills to support Jane and help her deliver medical care to the people of San Lorenzo. What follows is my journal of this trip including details from each day and my thoughts and prayers.
